Description (English): An original commemorative coin from Western Samoa with a face value of 1 Tala ($1) from the year 1974. This coin was specially issued to commemorate the 10th Commonwealth Games, which were held in Christchurch, New Zealand, that same year.

Coin Design:

  • Reverse: Features a dynamic sports scene of two boxers engaged in a match. The figures are surrounded by the inscription "COMMONWEALTH GAMES" with the year "1974" at the bottom.

  • Obverse: Displays the official coat of arms of Samoa, topped with the inscription "SAMOA I SISIFO" (Western Samoa). Below the crest is the national motto "FA'AVAE I LE ATUA SAMOA" (Samoa is founded on God), followed by the face value "$1".

Specifications & Item Condition: The coin is well-preserved within its original square plastic display case, which features a red insert and silver lettering denoting the country and the event ("WESTERN SAMOA - X th COMMONWEALTH GAMES CHRISTCHURCH").
