Israel 1994 Stamp Week Hanukkah Souvenir Leaf – Extra Inverted Cancellation

English Description

Official Israel Postal Authority Philatelic Service souvenir leaf, issued for Israel Stamp Week – Festival of Hanukkah 1994, held from November 28 to December 5, 1994.

The souvenir leaf features a stylized Hanukkah menorah design and carries the fourth stamp in a series of eight Hanukkah stamps designed by Igal Gabay.

The 1.50 NIS stamp depicts a Hanukkah lamp from Mazagan / Mogador, Morocco, from the collection of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.

The stamp is cancelled with the official Tel Aviv–Yafo Israel Stamp Week cancellation dated 28.11.1994.

Special Feature – Extra Inverted Cancellation

What makes this particular example especially interesting is the presence of an additional event cancellation at the upper part of the souvenir leaf.

This second cancellation has been applied upside down in relation to the orientation of the leaf, creating an unusual and visually distinctive cancellation variety.

The item is offered exactly as photographed. While the inverted extra cancellation is clearly present, no claim is made that it represents an officially catalogued printing or postal error unless further documentation is found.
