1.00 ₪ – המלך דוד מנגן בנבל/כינור, המבוסס על פסיפס עתיק. ברקע מופיעים מוטיבים הקשורים לעיר דוד ולתקופת המקרא.

English Description

Official Israel Postal Authority Philatelic Service Souvenir Leaf issued in 1995 as part of the Jerusalem 3000 celebrations, commemorating 3,000 years of Jerusalem as the City of David.

The front features the official Jerusalem 3000 emblem together with the inscription:

“JERUSALEM, CITY OF DAVID”

in Hebrew, Arabic and English.

The design combines historical, archaeological and modern imagery representing different periods in the history of Jerusalem.

Three Jerusalem – City of David Stamps

The souvenir leaf bears a complete group of three Israeli postage stamps:

1.00 NIS – depicting King David playing a musical instrument, based on an ancient mosaic, together with imagery associated with biblical Jerusalem.

1.50 NIS – featuring a historical representation of Jerusalem and elements connected with the city's cultural and religious heritage.

1.80 NIS – depicting modern Jerusalem and its national institutions, with additional Israeli historical and national motifs.

Together, the three stamps present a visual progression from ancient Jerusalem through its historical heritage to the modern city.
