מעטפת דואר ישראלית היסטורית משנת 1952, שהונפקה לציון פתיחת סניף הדואר הנייד "חוף אשדוד" בתאריך 14.10.1952.

על חזית המעטפה מופיע איור מרשים של פסל יושב, ולצדו זוג בולי "מטבע" ישראליים בערכים 5 ו־10 פרוטה, מסדרת "מלחמת הבית השני". הבולים נושאים חותמת דואר עגולה מתאריך 14.10.1952, התואמת לאירוע המצוין על המעטפה.

בולי המטבע עוצבו על ידי אוטה וליש (Otte Wallish) והציגו מטבעות יהודיים עתיקים. סדרה זו השתמשה בכיתוב "מלחמת הבית השני", שהחליף את הכיתוב הקודם "מרד ראשון".

המעטפה היא פריט מעניין לאספני דואר ישראל המוקדם, מעטפות מאוירות, חותמות מיוחדות, סניפי דואר ניידים והיסטוריית הדואר של שנותיה הראשונות של מדינת ישראל.

מצבה הכללי בינוני–טוב לגילה: קיימים סימני גיל, לכלוך/כתמים קלים, קמטים ושחיקה בשוליים, וכן קרע/חוסר קטן באזור השוליים הימני. הבולים עצמם מחוברים למעטפה ונראים היטב.

English Description

Historical Israeli postal cover from 1952, commemorating the opening of the Hof Ashdod Mobile Post Office on 14 October 1952.

The front of the cover features an attractive illustrated design of a seated statue, together with a pair of Israeli Coinage series stamps, denominated 5 and 10 Pruta, from the "Second Temple War" issue.

The stamps are tied to the cover by a circular postal cancellation dated 14.10.1952, corresponding to the event commemorated on the cover.

The Israeli Coinage stamps were designed by Otte Wallish and depict ancient Jewish coins. The revised series used the inscription "War of the Second Temple", replacing the earlier "First Revolt" inscription.

An interesting collectible for collectors of early Israeli postal history, illustrated covers, special postmarks, mobile post offices and the postal history of the early State of Israel.

Overall condition is fair to good for its age, with age toning, light staining, folds and edge wear. There is also a small area of tearing/loss along the right edge. The stamps remain attached to the cover and are clearly visible.
