Masonic Jewel - Royal Arch, silver, G. Kenning & Son London

Original Breast Jewel of a Companion in the Royal Arch Chapter – Royal Arch Order – from the higher degrees of British Freemasonry. Made in London by G. Kenning & Son – one of the most official and esteemed manufacturers of Masonic regalia of its time. Such a jewel was awarded to a brother at his Exaltation ceremony to the degree.

The Front Side: A Star of David formed by two intertwined triangles, with a rising sun above an altar at its center. Engraved on the sides of the triangles are six virtues: WISDOM, PEACE, STRENGTH, CONCORD, BEAUTY, TRUTH. Around the circle is the central motto of the Order: DEO REGI FRATRIBUS – HONOR FIDELITAS BENEVOLENTIA – To God, the King, and the Brethren: Honor, Fidelity, and Benevolence. In the bottom ribbon is the word EXALTED.

The Back Side: Around the circle is SI TALIA JUNGERE POSSIS SIT TIBI SCIRE SATIS – If you can understand how to unite these things, it is enough for you to know. On the sides of the triangles are intertwined cipher letters of the Order alongside the inscriptions INVENIMUS / WE HAVE FOUND, and CULTOR DEI CIVIS MUNDI – Worshiper of God, Citizen of the World. In the lower semicircle: NIL NISI CLAVIS DEEST – Nothing is wanting, but the Key.

At the bottom of the jewel, in open-cut work visible from both sides, is the symbol of the Triple Tau – the distinct emblem of the Royal Arch Chapter, and in fact, the key hinted at by the inscription above it.
