Caesarea Medal – Caesarea Coin, 44 CE, Bronze

A bronze medal dedicated to Caesarea – one of a series showcasing cities in the Land of Israel alongside their ancient coinage.

One side: The arch of the Roman aqueduct of Caesarea, and below it the waves of the Mediterranean Sea. At the bottom, an ancient column capital with a seven-branched menorah. Above the arch, the Hebrew inscription "קיסריה" (Caesarea), and below it "CAESAREA".

The other side: In the center, in a round indentation, an enlarged replica of a Caesarea coin from 44 CE: a crowned female figure standing between ears of wheat, with Greek inscription around it. On the medal's rim: "מטבע קיסריה בציון השנה העברית ג'תתד" (Coin of Caesarea marked with the Hebrew year 3904), and in Latin "COIN OF CAESAREA 44 C.E."

Material: Bronze. Condition: Well-preserved, natural patina, sharp reliefs, and fully legible inscriptions.
