An original Israeli coin with a nominal value of 5 Agorot, from the year 5724 (1964), from the Agorot series of the Israeli Lira period.

One side: Three pomegranates on a branch — a traditional motif taken from ancient Jewish coins — alongside the inscription "ישראל" (Israel).

Other side: The nominal value "5 אגורות" (5 Agorot) and the year 5724 (1964).

Background: The pomegranate is one of the distinct symbols of the Land of Israel and one of the Seven Species, and the motif of the three pomegranates appears on Jewish coins from the Second Temple period. The Agorot series adopted these ancient motifs for everyday use.
